The Sydney Sisters Shaking Up the Silk Houses
Saint Jane is a Sydney-based luxury silk house founded by sisters and designers Allegra and Gabriella Jackson, the self-proclaimed chaotic cousins of the silk houses they grew up with.
Not your grandmother's scarves. But they should be.
Raised between continents in maximalist homes, colour was celebrated and eccentricity encouraged. Their story starts in a garden in Singapore, where the fairy and the serpent, the wild and the refined, lived side by side. They've never been Plain Janes, zebra is their signature print.
Saint Jane was born somewhere between lost luggage in Ibiza, a 16-hour car journey through India and tracking down a seamstress they'd met years earlier in rural Thailand. After almost a decade in fashion, silk became their biggest challenge and greatest reward. They work exclusively with 100% mulberry silk, hand-rolled hems, no tags, double-sided prints, every print an original. Their sarongs take their cue from their mother's collection, cut from 100% cotton, hand-printed and finished by hand. Island babies then. Island babies now.
Their pieces don't follow trends, don't design for an age, and are made to mix and match, so one or two pieces can pull together a week of outfits. They make beautiful things because they like wearing beautiful things, but they make them for you, to wear, share, gift, travel in and pass on.
Bold on the Riviera, wild on the islands, classic in the countryside.
Welcome to the world of Saint Jane.
